Today’s Blessing Prayer: Saturday greetings and blessings to all! I hope you are continuing to navigate through these early spring days with a sense of hopefulness.
We enter the most sacred of all weeks in the Christian tradition tomorrow. We call it Holy Week and it brings to a close this long journey of Lent. We begin with Palm Sunday and we make the journey through the week celebrating Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and we end with Easter Sunday. However, this Holy Week will be a little different and we continue to deal with Covid 19 and it’s restrictions. I hope you will give some time to God during these high holy days. This is a special week. It is a time to slow down a bit and allow the Word of God and the focus of each day to help us connect in a special way with God. Please don’t let this week pass by as if it is just another week in life. Make it is special week. Take some time in whatever way you can to enter the Triduum, Good Friday is the simplest and I think the most powerful of the three days. At the very least this week make some special time for prayer and reflection. Read the Passions of each of the Gospels. Try and focus on all that takes place and if you can place yourself in the story of Jesus’ final days and hours among us. Once again as we journey through this holy time, I offer you Pope Francis’ Prayer… O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, and the Health of the Sick. At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of All People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin. (Prayer Composed by Pope Francis) My prayer of blessing today is that God will be with all of us in a special way throughout this most Holy Week. May God grace us with a special blessing that will enliven our faith, strength our hope, embrace us with love and fill our heart with the joy of the Gospel that we will proclaim by the living of our life each day. I pray that God will bless us with a peaceful Saturday and be present to us and our world. Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul
