Today’s Blessing Prayer: Saturday greetings and blessings and Happy 4th of July to all! I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July and that you take a little time to be thankful for all the many gifts you have around you. I also pray that you are continuing to navigate through these unusual and at times difficult days with faith and a hopefulness for the future.
We find ourselves in a time of great negativity, division, prejudice, disrespect, anger, and hate. It is not the best of times for our world or for our country. As we honor this day when many years ago we took a step towards freedom in the hope that our country would be a place of liberty and justice for all let us renew that pledge which has fallen short and truly believe, mean, and live what we pledge. Let us always begin our day with a prayer for peace, unity and respect. We want to enjoy the freedom many have given their lives for so let us pray that we will insure this freedom of all and that one day we might dismantle tanks, bombs, guns and other weapons of war into useful tools that show our greatness in caring for all of God’s creation, for all God’s people, and especially the Gift of Life! Once again as we journey through this uncertain time, I offer you Pope Francis’ Prayer… O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, and the Health of the Sick. At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of All People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin. (Prayer Composed by Pope Francis) My prayer of bless for us today is that God may bless us with a day that will help us to look at the positive in life not the negative. May God bless us with a vision of hope and not despair, with the grace to believe that the impossible can become the possible. May God bless us with the time to look around with wonder and amazement and not cynicism and negativity. May God bless us with the grace to look at one another and find God’s presence no matter what we look like, or where we are from, or what we believe! Please know that wherever you are, whatever you are doing and whomever you are with – you are in my prayers today and always! Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul
