A Runner’s Thoughts: "It's important to know that at the end of the day it's not the medals you remember. What you remember is the process -- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands -- those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish twelfth or you're an Olympic Champion." (Silken Laumann, Canadian Olympian)
A Runner’s Thoughts: Remember the little miracles of God that we encounter during a run are not because we finish but are because we find the courage to begin!
A Runner’s Thoughts: “Accomplishing a goal is like taking a bite of ice cream. It sends a rush of satisfaction through my body and makes me feel like I am invincible.” (Riley Becker-Kopke) And so to in the spiritual life taking some time in prayer is like a little ice cream. It sends a rush through our body and soul and makes us feel loved!
A Runner’s Thoughts: “You’ll never be able to see what lies just beyond the horizon if you refuse to be moved.” (David Perry)
A Runner’s Thoughts: Perhaps as we run we should choose the road less traveled: the road of awareness as we run, the road of revelation as we run, the road of intention as we run, the road of mindfulness as we run, the road of imagination as we run, the road of prayer as we run. Today let's pick a road we have not traveled lately and let it make a difference in our life today!
A Runner’s Thoughts: "Run in the present moment, not from something and not to something. Strive for a grace-filled as well as a graceful run." (Roger Joslin)
A Runner's Thoughts: Run in a new place today, for new places can stretch our capacity for finding the presence of God as we run! – As we walk, as we move through life another way.
A Runner's Thoughts: As you run today take with you whatever image of God that is most important to you and allow that image to accompany you on your run, also look for goodness in everyone you encounter. Look for goodness in yourself!
A Runner’s Thoughts: “My philosophy on running is, I don't dwell on it, I do it.” (Joan Benoit Samuelson) My theology of running is to not to just think about God as I run but to bring God with me one my runs!
