A Runner’s Thoughts: “When we truly love, we simply love, regardless of the worthiness or value of the object. No wonder that we speak of being “in love,” because it is a state of being more than an occasional, deliberate action. It will often feel like wonder, and our eyes will temporarily wide open and receptive.” (Fr. Richard Rohr, OFM)

A Runner’s Thoughts: “There is something magical about running; after a certain distance, it transcends the body. Then a bit further, it transcends the mind. A bit further yet, and what you have before you, laid bare, is the soul.” (Kristin Armstrong) And when you get to the soul you will find God! So, no matter whether we run, walk or move through life another way we have the chance to find God.
A Runner’s Thoughts: “Running is about finding your inner peace, and so is a life well lived.” (Dean Karnazes) So whether you run, walk or move through life another way find some inner peace today and live life well…
A Runner’s Thoughts: “But with any obstacle in our lives, there are those moments, despite the setbacks, where there is a glimmer of hope.” (Rebekah Gregory) And we live in the fire of that hope…
A Runner’s Thoughts: “Struggling and suffering are the essence of a life worth living. If you're not pushing yourself beyond the comfort zone, if you're not demanding more from yourself - expanding and learning as you go - you're choosing a numb existence. You're denying yourself an extraordinary trip.” (Dean Karnazes)
A Runner’s Thoughts: “As athletes, we have ups and downs. Unfortunately, you can't pick the days they come on.” (Deena Kastor) And so to in the spiritual life…As people of faith we have our ups and downs and unfortunately you cannot pick the days they come on. All you can do is be faithful and keep on the journey whether we run, walk or move through life another way!
A Runner’s Thoughts: A prayer perhaps to live by – “Father, creator of unfailing light, give that same light to those who call to you. May our lips praise you; our lives proclaim your goodness; our works give you honor, and our voices celebrate you forever.” (Psalm Prayer for Sunday Morning Prayer Week I)
A Runner’s Thoughts: “Poetry, music, forests, oceans, solitude, [prayer]--they were what developed enormous spiritual strength. I came to realize that spirit, as much or more than physical conditioning, had to be stored up before a race.” (Herb Elliott) And we might add after “a race” and “in the living of life!”
A Runner’s Thoughts: We need to remember today that - “Joy is the infallible sign of the presence of God.” (Fr. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, SJ) – So let be joyful and bring God’s presence to this day!
A Runner’s Thoughts: Whether we run, walk or move through life another way… “Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.” (Theodore Roosevelt)
