A Runner’s Thoughts: “For me, it’s such a gift from God to be able to run. Every time I run, I really feel His presence.” (Tracy Guerrette) So to for those who walk or move through life another way…Let us all feel God’s presence today!

A Runner’s Thoughts: We need to always remember that there are different forms of prayer, of communication with God and that they are possible in everything we do, even when we run, walk or move through life another way. So, as I have often said, let us allow our runs, walks or movements through life to be a prayer – a prayer of thanksgiving, a prayer of petition or intercession, a prayer of praise, a prayer of struggle, or a prayer seeking help or perhaps just a prayer that says hello God how are you today?
A Runner’s Thoughts: Remember that if during our runs, walks or movements through life another way, we have the desire to move and pray then our runs, walks or movements through life another way can transform the simplest moments into divine encounters!
A Runner’s Thoughts: “I tell runners… that no matter how inexperienced a runner you may be, there is nothing wrong with being intense. You don't know what you might discover.” (Francie Larrieu Smith) – “With the proper motivation, that is, a good reason for wanting to do it, your mind, [will and spirit] can overcome any sort of adversity.
(Franz Stampfl) This was of looking at running can also be true for those who walk or move through life another way and the spiritual life! A Runner’s Thoughts: Running, walking or moving through life another way can be so symbolic of life and faith. In running, walking or moving through life another way, like in life, we have to drive ourselves to overcome the obstacles. At times we feel that we just cannot do it. But then we find an inner strength, an inner presence and realize that we are capable of so much more than we thought. And like in faith when we run, walk or move through life another way we often realize that we are not alone. That God is with us!
A Runner’s Thoughts: Running, walking or moving through life another way can clear cobwebs from our minds and focus our thinking. Running, walking or moving through life another way can give us time and space to sort out the things that are bothering us or challenging us. At times running, walking or moving through life another way allows us to detach and think of nothing at all. But perhaps most importantly running, walking or moving through life another way offers us an opportunity to connect with God through our senses. Movement of all kinds graces us with an opportunity to taste, touch, smell, hear and see God in our life!
A Runner’s Thoughts: “For every runner who tours the world running marathons, there are thousands who run to hear the leaves and listen to the rain and look to the day when it is suddenly as easy as a bird in flight.” (George Sheehan) The same is true for those who walk or move through life another way…
A Runner’s Thoughts: “Running is about finding your inner peace, and so is a life well lived.” (Dean Karnazes)
A Runner’s Thoughts: “I view life as a series of training events building up to the big race and final finish line and I am always in training, always in the process of reaching the final goal.” (Matthew Shafner)
A Runner’s Thoughts: “As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are.” (Joan Benoit Samuelson) The same is true if we walk or move through life another way… It is true when we talk about faith. Faith is more than just reciting prayers or going to mass every Sunday, though like putting one foot in front of the other when we run, walk or move through life another way these rituals are important. Faith is about how we live our life. Faith is like taking a breath. We need to breathe when we run, walk or move about life in other ways. It is the same with faith. A person of faith situates her or his faith in every aspect of life. Faith is about who we are. So today and every day let us be runners, walkers or movers through life another way but also let us be people of faith!
