Today’s Blessing Prayer: Good Friday greetings and blessings to all! I trust you are navigating through these Holy Triduum days with faith and hope.
As we begin this Good Friday, I offer you Pope Francis’ Prayer… O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, and the Health of the Sick. At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of All People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin. (Prayer Composed by Pope Francis) I hope you will be able to at least find a few moments of quiet to make holy this Good Friday. Perhaps you can sit for a little while before the Cross of Christ and remember that God so loved the world that he gave us his only Son and if we believe God offers us the gift of eternal life. I pray that as you journey through this Good Friday that you might get out to your local parish to attend the afternoon service of The Lord’s Passion, or perhaps the Stations of the Cross these options would be an excellent way to celebrate Good Friday. It is one of the simplest and most beautiful liturgies that we have as a Church. My prayer of blessing today is that somehow on this Good Friday we will be touch by the magnanimous love of God. That we will be blessed with the grace to believe in God’s love. A love that is ground in our friendship with Jesus because there is no greater love than to lay down your life for your friends, Jesus laid down his life today for us, his friends. I send my prayers and I ask God's blessings upon all of you and your loved ones. May the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ be always in our hearts! Peace in Christ's Passion today and always...Fr. Paul
