A Runner's Thoughts: God does not wait at the finish line; God has entered the race, God is constantly with us in all things and all people. As we run, walk, or move through life another way, as we live, our task is simply to recognize that fact and hold it within us!

A Runner's Thoughts: Some days running, walking or moving through life another way is effortless, other days it is a struggle. Which of the runs, walks or movements through life another way is most fruitful? Both are fruitful, because the first brings us enjoyment, perhaps we might say these runs, walks or movements through life another way are little gifts from God. The second kind of run, walk or movement brings us struggle that makes us more aware of the need for God in our life and so we work, we struggle to find that presence!
A Runner's Thoughts: “Every day is a fresh start; don't measure yourself by yesterday's troubles.” (Dagny Scott Barrios) So always run, walk or move through life another way with imagination and see as you go that God is running, walking or moving in another way towards you!
A Runner’s Thoughts: “I don't think about the miles that are coming down the road, I don't think about the mile I'm on right now, I don't think about the miles I've already covered. I think about what I'm doing right now, just being lost in the moment.” (Ryan Hall) As Jesus tells us today in the Gospel it is the same with faith. We don’t think about the past or what might happen ahead of us. We live in the present moment and find God there! So, as we run, walk or move through life another way today let us do it in the moment.
A Runner's Thoughts: Always run, walk or move through life another way with imagination and see as you run, walk or movement as God is running, walking or moving towards you!
A Runner's Thoughts: “Fear of trying causes paralysis. Trying causes only trembling and sweating. (Mason Cooley) "Happiness is an inexpressibly misleading and temporary thing, decides nothing; the true stations of joy are on the road which lies through simple endurance." (Rainer Maria Rilke)
A Runner's Thoughts: “I run, [walk or move through life another way], because if I didn’t, I’d be sluggish and glum and spend too much time on the couch. I run to breathe the fresh air. I run to explore. I run to escape the ordinary. I run… to savor the trip along the way. Life becomes a little more vibrant, a little more intense. I like that.” (Dean Karnazes) So to in the spiritual life – I have faith because…
A Runner’s Thoughts: As prayerful runner, walker or mover through life another way, we always seem to find it inadequate to sit and wait for the Spirit to appear. As prayerful runners, walkers, or movers through life another way, we always want to run, walk or move towards God but if we are prayerful runner’s, walkers or movers through life another way, what we always find is that God is running, walking or moving toward us at twice the speed! (Adapted from Roger Joslin – Running the Spiritual Path)
A Runner’s Thoughts: “When I run, I'm just a person among people. A runner among runners. And we all experience the same challenge of get up and go - regardless of ability.” (Sally Bergesen) So to in the spiritual life… We are people among people. People of faith among people of faith. And we all experience the same challenge to be faith filled each day!
A Runner’s Thoughts: “Running, [walking or moving through life another way] much like life, [faith and the spiritual life], has its hills and valleys. On any given run, and particularly in most marathons, we come across easy stretches and seemingly impossible challenges. I have learned to just keep going. The tough moments never last, and the easy stretches are always a joy. The same is clearly true in life [in faith and the spiritual life], if we just keep going we'll get to that finish line with water, massages, and bananas! [And friendship with God!] (Main part of quote by Will Starr, Runner's World Challenger of the Week – I add what is in the brackets)
