A Runner’s Thoughts: “Struggling and suffering are the essence of a life worth living. If you're not pushing yourself beyond the comfort zone, if you're not demanding more from yourself - expanding and learning as you go - you're choosing a numb existence. You're denying yourself an extraordinary trip.” (Dean Karnazes) So to in the spiritual life!

A Runner’s Thoughts: “Running is meant to be enjoyed, not endured.” (Catherine McKiernan) So too if we walk or move through life another way… Also in the spiritual life – our relationship, our friendship with God is meant to be enjoyed, lived, not just endured!
A Runner’s Thoughts: “It was being a runner that mattered, not how fast or how far I could run. The joy was in the act of running and in the journey, not in the destination. We have a better chance of seeing where we are when we stop trying to get somewhere else. We can enjoy every moment of movement, as long as where we are is as good as where we'd like to be. That's not to say that you need to be satisfied forever with where you are today. But you need to honor what you've accomplished, rather than thinking of what's left to be done.” ― (John Bingham)
A Runner’s Thoughts: “I run because long after my footprints fade away, maybe I will have inspired a few to reject the easy path, hit the trails, put one foot in front of the other, and come to the same conclusion I did: I run because it always takes me where I want to go.” (Dean Karnazes) The same is true if we walk or move through life another way…
A Runner’s Thoughts: Two thoughts for runners, walker and those who move through life another way today… “Believe me, the reward is not so great without the struggle.” (Wilma Rudolph) and “Every day, I stop halfway through my run for five minutes, look around, and enjoy the surroundings. I'm reminded of why I do this and why I love it so much.” (Anita Ortiz) Both of these reflections can also be applied to our journey through life as people of faith!
A Runner’s Thoughts: As prayerful runners, walkers or movers through life another way let us not move with a sense of expectation that something significant will happen spiritually. Let us move only asking that our run, our walk or our movement through life another way will be in the presence of God and that we will move with a heightened awareness of God’s presence. If we run, walk or move another way through life in this way occasionally insights will come our way and we might feel a special closeness to God, but usually we will simply know that we are not alone, and we will carry with us the sense of a shared journey long after we have finished our run, walk or movement through life another way! A Runner’s Thoughts: Let us Imagine God is at our side, running, walking or moving through life another way along with us. Imagine how God might look with kindness into the faces of all whom we might meet as we run, walk or move through life another way. Imagine how God would find good in everyone we encountered. So, let’s us look for good in everyone we meet today. Let us look for good in ourselves today.
A Runner’s Thoughts: “If you need help getting motivated, turn to fellow runners. Often, they have been there, done that and can help you move along.” (Hal Higdon) So to in the spiritual life…If you need help or motivation in prayer turn to a fellow traveler in faith because often they have been there and done that and are more than willing to help you on your journey of faith. We are all in this together whether we are running and believing.
A Runner's Thoughts: Try to transform your run, walk or movement through life another way from just a run, a walk or a movement through life another way to a sacred experience by letting God be with you!
