A Runner’s Thoughts: “When you have the enthusiasm and the passion, you end up figuring how to excel.” (Deena Kastor)

A Runner’s Thoughts: “In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.” (Robert Frost)
A Runner’s Thoughts: “Everyone of us will have to give an account of ourselves before God. Therefore, we must no longer pass judgment on one another. Instead we should resolve to put no stumbling block or hindrance in our sister or brother’s way. The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of justice, peace, and the joy that is given by the Holy Spirit. Whoever serves Christ in this way pleases God and wins the esteem of humankind. Let us, then, make it our aim today and always to work for peace and to strengthen one another.” (From Romans 14:12-13,17-19)
A Runner’s Thoughts: Let’s live in a spirit of gratefulness today. Before we begin our day let’s declare our intention to look upon all we encounter with the freshness of the unexpected. Let us live with a sense of miraculous expectation and allow a feeling of gratitude for the extraordinary and the ordinary to flow through our being. As we live today let us be thankful to God for life! (Adapted from Roger Joslin – Running the Spiritual Path)
A Runner’s Thoughts: Every new day is a work of art, a drawing on the canvas of life. Some days are shouts and some days are whispers. Some days are eulogies and others, celebrations. When you are angry, the living of life can be a sharp slap in the face. When happy, the living of life is your song. And when your living of life progresses enough to become the chrysalis through which your life is viewed, motivation is almost beside the point. Rather, it's the living of life that motivates you for everything else the day holds.” (Adapted from the Runner’s World Daily Kick in the Butt by Dagny Scott Barrios)
A Runner’s Thoughts: As prayerful people of faith we at times seem to find it inadequate to sit and wait for the Spirit to appear. As prayerful people of faith, we always want to live our lives focused on and moving towards God but if we are prayerful people of faith what we will always find is that God is focused on and moving toward us at twice the speed! (Adapted from Roger Joslin – Running the Spiritual Path)
A Runner’s Thoughts: “For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.” (Nelson Mandela)
A Runner’s Thoughts: “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” (Abraham Lincoln)
A Runner’s Thoughts: Today accept the living of life for what it is, remembering that this is a spiritual journey that, like any discipline, requires persistence through experiences of success and seeming failure. (Adapted from Roger Joslin – Running the Spiritual Path)
A Runner’s Thoughts: “Not just exercise, but a way to get in touch with and reclaim myself in an often-fragmenting world, running also serves as a powerful antidote to clinical depression, a metaphor for the creative process, and, in its most profound moments, a spiritual practice.” (Alison Townsend) Same can be true for walking or moving through life another way…
