Today’s Prayer: O Lord, show Your mercy to us and gladden our hearts. We are like the person on the way to Jericho who was overtaken by robbers, wounded and left for dead. O Good Samaritan come to our aid. We are like the sheep that went astray. O Good Shepherd seek us out and bring us home in accord with Your will. Let us dwell in Your house all the days of our lives and praise You for ever and ever with those who are there. Amen. (Adapted from a prayer of St. Jerome)
Today’s Blessing Prayer: Sunday greetings and blessings to all! I hope your day is starting off well. Even though it is Sunday, September 29th bring us the Feast of the Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael and so we call upon their spirit to enliven our journey through life today.
My prayer of blessing this morning is that we will all have a great Sunday filled with many blesses, much love and feelings of peace. May we be rich in faith, hope and love which God has planted with in us. And may the wonderful spirit of Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, whom we honor today, guide, direct and protect us on our journey through this day and always! Don’t forget to give God a little time today. Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer:
Loving God, you have given us archangels to assist us during our pilgrimage on earth. Saint Michael is our protector; so, we ask him to come to our aid, to watch over all our loved ones, and to protect all of us from danger. Saint Gabriel is a messenger of the Good News; so, we ask him to help us to clearly hear your voice, to teach us your truth and to help us find the joy of your Word! Saint Raphael is the healing angel; so, we ask him to take to you all our prayers for healing, lifting all in need of healing into your presence so that through your mercy, love and grace they may be delivered back to us through your gift of healing. Help us, O God, to realize more fully the gift of Michael, Gabriel and Raphael and their desire to serve us. Archangels, protect, guide and help us through this journey of life. Amen. Today’s Blessing Prayer: Saturday greetings and blessings to all. I hope your Saturday journey has started off well.
My prayer of blessing for all of us today is that God will bless all our endeavors, our encounters, our times of solitude, our moments of busyness and our times of rest today. May this day be what we need it to be. May it be a gift from God that enables us to find the present of God in our life, especially within ourselves. Have a great Saturday and don’t forget to give a little time to God this weekend. Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer: Loving Jesus, the love that gives love. You are higher than the highest star; you are deeper than the deepest sea; you cherish us as your own family; you embrace us as your own spouse; you lead us as your own citizens; you welcome us as your own dearest friends. Let us and all the world praise you today and always! Amen. (Adapted from a prayer by St. Hildegard of Bingen)
Today’s Blessing Prayer: Friday greetings and blessings to all! I hope your day has started off well. Mine has started off rather early and I am headed for a day of golf. I haven’t played for almost three years, so it is probably going to be a very long day!
A special shout out to all who draw strength, comfort and inspiration for St. Vincent DePaul on this his feast day, especially the many St. Vincent DePaul Society members who do some much to help others in need. A shout out to my friend Marge for her profound commitment over these many years to helping others. My prayer of blessing for all of us today is this – As we journey through this day may we be blessed with Christ all around us, with Christ behind us, with Christ before us, with Christ beside us, with Christ to comfort and restore us, with Christ beneath us, with Christ above us, with Christ in our quiet moments, with Christ in our moments of struggle, with Christ in the hearts of all who love us, with Christ within of all our friends and every person we meet today. May the presence of Christ’s be within us and bless our day, Amen! I hope you will have a great Friday and that you encounter many blessings today and much peace. May you be graced by God in whatever you do, and may you bring God’s grace to whomever you meet! Work, pray, travel, study, laugh, cry, talk, be silent, be intense or relax today rich in the blessing and presence of God. Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer:
Loving God, We have no idea where we are going. We do not see the road ahead of us. We cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do we really know ourselves, and the fact that we think we are following your will does not mean that we are actually doing so. But we believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And we hope we have that desire in all that we are doing. We hope that we will never do anything apart for that desire. And we know that if we do this you will lead us by the right road though we may know nothing about it. Therefore, we will trust you always though we may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. We will not fear, for you are ever with us, and you will never leave us to face my perils alone. Amen! (Adapted from a prayer by Thomas Merton) Today’s Blessing Prayer: Thursday blessings and greetings to all. I hope your day has started well.
This is the last day of retreat at the Wartburg Home. I think it has gone well. I would once again ask you to offer a little prayer for everyone making the retreat and if you could offer a little prayer for their preacher it would be appreciated. My prayer of blessing today is adapted from the Irish tradition - May God bless all of us today so that the road rises up to meet us and makes your journeys swift and easy. May the wind be always at your back to aid us on our way. May the sun shine warm upon our face. And if the rain does have to fall may it be soft upon the land and upon us. And may we be truly blessed by God holding us in the palm of his hand throughout this day and always! Have a great day everyone. May it truly be blessed with many wonderful experiences, many gifted and loving people and the energy that a new day can bring. Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer: Grant, O God, that we may never fall away in success or in failure; that we may not be prideful in prosperity nor dejected in adversity. Let us rejoice only in what unites us and sorrow only in what separates us. May we strive to please no one or fear to displease anyone except you, our God. May we see always the things that are eternal and never those that are only temporal. May we shun any joy that is without you and never seek any that is beside you. Loving God, may we delight in any work we do for you and tire of any rest that is apart from you. Gracious God let us direct our hearts towards you, and in our failings, let us always seek forgiveness with the firm purpose of being better people. Amen! (Adapted from a prayer by St. Thomas Aquinas)
