Today’s Blessing Prayer: Wednesday greetings and blessings to all and Happy Halloween! I hope your Wednesday is starting well and this finds you looking forward to the day ahead. If it is going to be a tough day hang in there as I pray that it will get better for you.
We had a wonderful closing to the mission last night at St. Joseph’s Parish in Mechanicsburg, PA. The parish has a great spirit and I truly enjoyed my time there. I made the journey back to Pelham last night after the closing. I was excited and know that I wouldn’t fall asleep right away and sometimes entering New York is a lot easier late at night than during the day. That concept held true for most of the journey last night at least up until I hit the George Washington Bridge. But it wasn’t too long of a delay. So, I am beginning my Halloween at home this morning. However, it is going to be a busy day, as they say, “no rest for the wicked!” A special shout out to my niece Kelly who celebrates her birthday today! Happy Birthday Kelly, many blessings today and always. Have a great day! So that our day will be a good one I offer this prayer – Loving God bless us with a steadfast heart, which no unworthy affection may drag downwards; bless us with an unconquered heart, which no tribulation can wear out; bless us with an upright heart, which no unworthy purpose may tempt aside. Bless us with the understanding to know you, bless us with diligence to seek you, bless us with the wisdom to find you, and bless us with a faithfulness will help us to embrace your love in our life. I pray this blessing for all my family and friends and anyone in need this day through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen! Have a great day. If you are out this evening please be careful and if you are out and about Trick or Treating or partying this evening be careful and safe. Happy Eve of All Saints! Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul

Today’s Prayer: God, loving Creator, grace us with the wisdom to embrace your Kingdom that is all around us so that someday, after trying to master the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for you the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, we will have discovered fire – your unconditional love. Amen! (Adapted from the words of Fr. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, SJ)
Today’s Blessing Prayer: Tuesday greetings and blessings to all! I hope this finds everyone beginning what will become a good day if not hang in there it will get better! It is a cool, damp morning but hopefully will become a nice sunny day here in Mechanicsburg. The second day of the mission went well yesterday. I had a morning session, two sessions with the school children and an evening session so it was a busy day for me and there is more of the same today. Please keep the faith community here at St. Joseph’s in your prayers and if you could utter a simple prayer for their preacher it would be greatly appreciated!
As I mentioned in Today’s Prayer this is the seventh anniversary of my mother’s passing from this life into eternal life, so my thoughts are with her in a special way today. It seems hard to believe that it has been seven years. She is still greatly missed. Mom, please continue to keep watch over us! My prayer of blessing today – Loving God bless us with a steadfast heart, which no unworthy affection may drag downwards; bless us with an unconquered heart, which no tribulation can wear out; bless us with an upright heart, which no unworthy purpose may tempt aside. Bless us with the understanding to know you, bless us with diligence to seek you, bless us with the wisdom to find you, and bless us with a faithfulness will help us to embrace your love in our life. I pray this blessing for all my family and friends and anyone in need this day through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen! Have a great Tuesday everyone. Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer: (Remembering my mother today on the seventh anniversary of her death.) – Good Saint Rita, during your entire life on earth you found your happiness by following the will of God. Help us to be as trusting of God in all of what God asks of us this day and always. Help us this day to give ourselves to God as you did, without limit, without fear, without counting the cost. Help us to be – generous in serving the needs of others, patient in all difficulties, forgiving toward all who hurt us. Help us to learn more deeply the great mystery of the Cross of Jesus, so that by embracing it as you did, we may come to experience its power to heal and to save. Amen (Adapted from a Prayer to St. Rita of Cascia)
Today’s Blessing Prayer: Monday greetings and blessings to all! I hope your Monday is starting off well? The opening of our Mission and Eucharistic Devotion here at St. Joseph’s in Mechanicsburg, PA went well yesterday, and I am looking forward to the morning and evening sessions today. I will also be doing two sessions with the school kids, so you might say it will be a full day for me.
I would ask you to keep the faith community here at St. Joseph’s in your prayers today and if you have the opportunity to say a little extra prayer for their preacher it would be greatly appreciated! I would also suggest that we continue to prayer for the people of Pittsburgh, the victims of the hate and terror attack on Saturday, their families and friends. Let us prayer for the first responders and all who have helped in the hours and days since the attack. Let us pray for our nation and ourselves that we will wake up to the hate, anger and lies of our leadership and be the instruments of God’s compassion, mercy and love. As we begin these last few days of October we find ourselves getting ready to say “good bye” to October and its menagerie of colors, crisp morning air and sun drenched afternoons and we prepare to welcome November on Thursday, with its fading colors, ever darkening days and the hustle and bustle of the soon approaching holiday season. So in the midst of this in between week I offer this prayer of blessing to begin your week and send you on your way towards November… Loving God, Creator of this new day, bless us this day so that we may live your truth in everything we do. That we may express your love and joy to everyone we meet. Touch us with your grace so that we may share our enthusiasm and make each moment better; so that we may give life to our hopes; so that we may walk by faith; so that we may dance and sing to your music of life; so that we will always embrace your mercy, your joy, your blessings and your love and make today and everyday worth remembering. Amen! Have a great Monday everyone! Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer: Loving God, often we hold on to the things we own and we are afraid to open our clenched hands. Who will we be when we have nothing left to hold on to? Who will we be when we stand before you with empty hands? Please help us to gradually open our hands and to discover that we are not what we own, but what you want to give us. Amen! (Adapted from a prayer by Henri J.M. Nouwen)
Today’s Blessing Prayer: Sunday greetings and blessing to all. It is a cloudy and rainy morning here in Mechanicsburg, PA. It was a rainy, windy drive yesterday but not all that difficult. I am glad to be here, and things got off to a good start at the 5:00 pm mass last night. I am looking forward to a great mission here at St. Joseph’s. If you get a chance, please keep the faith community here at St. Joseph’s in your prayers along with their preacher.
In driving all of yesterday morning I was not aware of the events happening in Pittsburgh. I was profoundly sad when I finally found out yesterday afternoon. Pittsburgh in my home town and I would never have imagined something like this happening there. My prayers at with the victims families and friends. I stand in solidarity with my Jewish sisters and brothers everywhere. I ask God to bring those who lost their lives home to eternal peace, those wounded to a speedy recovery and Pittsburgh to a place of strength and unity. May those who preach lies, hate, violence, disrespect, anger and division have muted voices and may like Bartimaeus in our Gospel today may we hear the voice of Jesus and be given sight to see and hear what is true, honorable, respectful and life-giving! Prayers for Pittsburgh, the Tree of Life Congregation and all good people! While my thoughts are with Pittsburgh and the horrible tragedy there, while many begin this day with great sorrow, hurt and fear… I pause to offer this thought and prayer… Wherever you are, whatever this day will bring into your life, if you will be watching your favorite team, and perhaps later celebrating your team’s victory, or mourning and debating its defeat or just anticipating the work week and the busyness of that lies ahead. It you are resting and relaxing or busy about many different things, if you are taking time to enjoy the beauty of this day or struggling through a problem, or mourning an unthinkable tragedy, no matter where you are or what you are doing I offer this prayer and blessing for you... This is the Day that God has made let us rejoice and be glad. May there always be work for us to do. May our pockets and purses always hold a coin or two. May the sun always shine warm on our windowpanes. May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain. May the hand of family, a loved one and a friend always be near and may God fill our hearts with gladness and love that we in turn can share! May hate, anger and fear not be what we share or live. May God’s blessing be upon us all today and always. Don't forget to give God a little time today, after all it is Sunday! Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer:
Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding and my entire will, All I have and call my own. You have given all to me. To you, Lord, I return it. Everything is yours; do with it what you will. Give me only your love and your grace. That is enough for me. (Suscipe – St. Ignatius of Loyola) Today’s Blessing Prayer: Saturday greetings and blessings to all! I hope your Saturday is starting off well. Mine is starting off early as I prepare to hit the road in an hour or so as I travel to Mechanicsburg, PA to celebrate a Mission at St. Joseph’s Parish beginning this evening. The nor’easter arrived here in the New York area during the night, so it is going to be a stormy ride today, so I ask your prayers for a safe journey today and that you keep the faith community of St. Joseph’s in your prayers as they celebrate a time of mission this week.
My prayer of blessing today – Loving God, Creator of this new day, bless us so that we may live your truth in everything we do today. That we may express your love to everyone we meet. Touch us with your grace so that we may share our enthusiasm and make each moment better; so that we may give life to our hopes; so that we may walk by faith; so that we may dance and sing to your music of life; so that we will always embrace your blessings and your love and make today and everyday worth remembering. Amen! Have a great Saturday everyone! Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer: Keep us in peace, O Christ our God, under the protection of your holy and venerable Cross. Save us from enemies visible and invisible, and account us worthy to glorify you with thanksgiving, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen. (Dismissal, Armenian Orthodox Liturgy)
