Today’s Prayer: O God, we praise, bless, honor, glorify, and thank you for your goodness; for you have delivered our souls from death, our eyes from tears, and our feet from slipping. We have sinned against heaven and before you. Have mercy on us, O God. Try us, O God and discern our paths; see if there is a way of transgression in us and turn us away from it. Lead us into the eternal way, O God. Amen! (Adapted from a prayer by St. Makarios of Alexandria)

Today’s Blessing Prayer: Monday greetings and blessings to all! I hope your day has started off well and that you will be getting a chance to enjoy this holiday of Presidents Day. If not and you are headed to or already at work, I hope the day is going smoothly.
As for me it was a long journey beginning last night around 7:30 pm PST and ended just a little while ago as I arrived home early this morning. I don’t sleep on planes so I am sure I will crash at some point today. The married couples retreat went very well this past weekend and I always enjoy my time in the Huntington Beach and Sierra Madre areas. I hope I get invited back again! As I begin this new day with a busy week ahead my prayer of blessing for us all is that our day will be rich in what matters to God. That every encounter, every journey, every experience, every meeting, every task and every person we meet will be blessed with God’s presence. I pray that we will have moments of peace that will help us to hear, feel and know the presence of God is with and within us. If you are traveling today, travel safe. No matter what your day will bring smile often and know that you are a gift today and always! May you have many blessings throughout the day. Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer: Loving God, teach us to have patient hearts and give us the grace to open our hearts to you so that we may persevere in our journey of faith today and always. Be our protector, our stronghold and guide us with your ingenious love. Amen! Today’s Blessing Prayer: Sunday greetings and blessings to all! I hope your Sunday has stared off well. A little later this morning here in Sierra Madre, CA at the Passionist Retreat Center we will bring the Married Couples Retreat to a close. I think it has been a good retreat for all. At least I have gotten some good feedback. I would ask you to continue to pray for the couples who have made the retreat and for their preacher.
After the retreat finishes, I will make my way back to the Orange County Airport to catch my 7:30 pm flight home. I will stop and change planes in Phoenix, AZ and hopefully I will be arriving in New York tomorrow around 6 am. It will make for a long afternoon, evening and night, but that is life on the road! All I hope for is happy and safe travels. My prayer of blessing today is that wherever we are, whomever we are with or will encounter and whatever we are doing or will do - I prayer that we will be blessed with the grace, love and presence of God. May we always take some time to rest and enjoy life. May we remember to pause for a moment of prayer today and always. And may we enjoy our Sunday, by thinking positive thoughts, wearing a smile and trusting that God journeys with us! Blessings to all on our journey through this Sunday and when we reach evening may it be restful and peaceful! Don’t forget to give God a little time today after all it is Sunday! Peace in Christ's Passion...Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer: O God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Your Son cared for the welfare of every person and went about doing good for all. Grant us the imagination and the resolution to create throughout the world a just and hopeful world for the human family. Make us agents of your compassion and mercy to the suffering, the persecuted and the oppressed. We pray this through the Spirit of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen. (Adapted from a prayer from Norwich Cathedral in England)
Today’s Blessing Prayer: Saturday greetings and blessings to all! I hope your Saturday has started off well? Our married couples retreat got off to a good start last night. There are 25 couples on retreat. Please offer a prayer for them as you go through you day that their day of retreat will be rich in God’s presence. Also, if you don’t mind saying an extra prayer could you offer one for their preacher!
My prayer of blessing today is that God will bless us all in our endeavors today and that life today and every day will be rich with the gift of God’s presence, a presence we will find in the world around us, in the people we meet and in ourselves. Have a great Saturday and a great weekend everyone! Don’t forget to get God a little time. Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer: Loving God, helper of those who turn to you, light of those in the dark, creator of all that grows, promotor of all spiritual growth, have mercy on us. Make us temples fit for you. Do not scan our transgressions too closely, for if you are quick to notice our offenses, we will not dare to appear before you. In your great mercy, in your boundless compassion, wash away our sins, through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen! (Adapted from an Early Christian Prayer)
Today’s Blessing Prayer: Friday greetings and blessings to all! I hope you had a nice Valentine's Day yesterday and that your Friday is starting off well. Yesterday was a day of rain here in Southern California and today will be more of the same. Later this morning I will be leaving my place of respite along the Pacific Ocean and moving inland a little to Sierra Madre, CA and the Passionist Retreat Center located there. I will begin a Married Couples Retreat this evening. There will be 25 married couples on retreat so I will ask you to pray for them as they journey through this special weekend with me. I would also ask you to pray for their preacher this weekend too!
My prayer today is for God’s blessings upon all of us wherever we are, in whatever we will be doing and in whomever and whatever we will encounter today. I pray we will stay safe, warm, and have a great day. May we find the richness of God’s presence in our life today and always. Also, I pray that the end of this day will bring us to the beginning of a restful and enjoyable weekend. Blessings today and always! Peace in Christ's Passion...Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer: Almighty and ever-loving God, look with compassion on our humanness, on all our struggles and weaknesses. Strengthen us for the journey ahead. Give us the wisdom to follow your call. Enliven us with the grace to be repairers and restorers of your love. Help us to be people of hope and to bring that hope to all we meet. Amen!
Prayer of Love
If I speak in human and angelic tongues* but do not have love, I am a resounding gong or a clashing cymbal. And if I have the gift of prophecy and comprehend all mysteries and all knowledge; if I have all faith so as to move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away everything I own, and if I hand my body over so that I may boast but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. If there are prophecies, they will be brought to nothing; if tongues, they will cease; if knowledge, it will be brought to nothing. For we know partially and we prophesy partially, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I used to talk as a child, think as a child, reason as a child; when I became a man, I put aside childish things. At present we see indistinctly, as in a mirror, but then face to face. At present I know partially; then I shall know fully, as I am fully known. So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is Love. Amen! (1 Corinthians 13:1-13) |
