Lockdown
Yes there is fear. Yes there is isolation. Yes there is panic buying. Yes there is sickness. Yes there is even death. But, They say that in Wuhan after so many years of noise You can hear the birds again. They say that after just a few weeks of quiet The sky is no longer thick with fumes But blue and grey and clear. They say that in the streets of Assisi People are singing to each other across the empty squares, keeping their windows open so that those who are alone may hear the sounds of family around them. They say that a hotel in the West of Ireland Is offering free meals and delivery to the housebound. Today a young woman I know is busy spreading fliers with her number through the neighborhood So that the elders may have someone to call on. Today Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Temples are preparing to welcome and shelter the homeless, the sick, the weary All over the world people are slowing down and reflecting All over the world people are looking at their neighbors in a new way All over the world people are waking up to a new reality To how big we really are. To how little control we really have. To what really matters. To Love. So we pray and we remember that Yes there is fear. But there does not have to be hate. Yes there is isolation. But there does not have to be loneliness. Yes there is panic buying. But there does not have to be meanness. Yes there is sickness. But there does not have to be disease of the soul Yes there is even death. But there can always be a rebirth of love. Wake to the choices you make as to how to live now. Today, breathe. Listen, behind the factory noises of your panic The birds are singing again The sky is clearing, Spring is coming, And we are always encompassed by Love. Open the windows of your soul And though you may not be able to touch across the empty square, Sing. - Amen!

Today’s Blessing Prayer: Monday greetings and blessings to everyone! I know this is a very unusual time for all of us. You are all in my prayers each morning and evening. Stay strong and trust in the possibilities God offers us each new day!
Once again as we journey through this uncertain time, I offer you Pope Francis’ Prayer… O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, and the Health of the Sick. At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of All People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin. (Prayer Composed by Pope Francis) I offer my prayer of blessing for all of us as we begin this new unusual and perhaps stressful week together. May God’s healing, mercy and peace be with us as we journey through this day and this week. May we trust in God’s plan for us and may God bless this day and week, and may it be one filled with many moments of God’s presence and may we be open to the blessings God offers us during this extraordinary time. May God bless each one of us, our loved ones and all the people on this journey through life today. In those moments of struggle this day take a deep breath and know that God is with us because we believe and trust that God is always with us. Peace in Christ's Passion...Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer: Loving God, open our hearts to the endless possibilities of your love, your mercy and your presence in our lives today. Help us to let go of our expectations and be open to the many mysterious ways you touch our lives especially with your mercy. Grace us with the strength to let go and let you guide and direct us today. Heal us with your love and grant us the wisdom to recognize you today and always. Amen!
Today’s Blessing Prayer: Sunday greetings and blessings to all! I hope you are navigating through this unusual time well. Yes, it is stressful. There are great uncertainties and it is presenting us with a change in our daily lives. But we can also look upon this time as an opportunity to connect with God perhaps in a different way than we usually do. Let us not waste this opportunity by thinking only of ourselves.

As you might gather my next two parish missions have been cancel and I expect the third one will be canceled any day. So rather than having a very busy Lent I now have time to sit and ponder what God is saying to us in the midst of this crisis. Perhaps we all now have an opportunity to connect with God in a different way than usual. The distractions of our world have been taken away. No sports to run to, no movies, no Broadway. Yes, we still have TV but maybe that is the last place we should run to. Perhaps God is calling us to listen, to be present to his presence, to see life in a different way. Let our Gospel today perhaps God is calling us back home!
