Today’s Prayer:
Mary, woman of listening, open our ears; grant us to know how to listen to the word of your Son Jesus among the thousands of words of this world; grant that we may listen to the reality in which we live, to every person we encounter, especially those who are poor, in need, in hardship. Mary, woman of decision, illuminate our mind and our heart so that we may obey, unhesitating, the word of your Son Jesus; give us the courage to decide, not to let ourselves be dragged along, letting others direct our life. Mary, woman of action, [may] our hands and feet move “with haste” toward others, to bring them the charity and love of your Son Jesus, to bring the light of the gospel to the world, as you did. Amen. (Adapted from a prayer by Pope Francis) Today’s Blessing Prayer: Thursday greetings to all and blessings on this Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross! I hope your day is getting off to a good start. If not, I hope as you live today it will grow into a day full of people and experiences that will be life giving for you.
As I begin this new day my prayer for all of you is that you will have a good journey through this day. May you live by faith today and trust in the gift that you are. May God recognize your faith and bless you with the unconditional love that we are reminded of each time we look upon his Cross. If you are struggling today may you find the grace of hope, peace and love to see you through this day. Blessings today upon all you do, upon everyone you meet and most importantly upon all of you! Peace in Christ’s Passion and Cross…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer:
The Cross of My Lord, Be my Standard, Be my Comfort, Be the Answer to all dark questions, The Light of all nights, The Sign that You have chosen us, The mysterious and sure Sign that we are Yours for eternity. Amen. (Prayer by Fr. Karl Rahner, S.J.) Today’s Blessing Prayer: Wednesday greetings and blessings to all. I hope this finds you enjoying your morning and excited about a new day.
My prayer of blessing for all of us today is that God will bless us with some time to pause and take into account our blessings, our gifts. The hopelessness of violence, anger and negativity seem to be all around us but as I have often learned if I pause and take some time away from the busyness of life I many times encounter God’s gifts in very real and wonderful ways. God’s presence is all around us, we just have to not let the noise of the world distract us from God. May God bless us with the gift of his presence today in some small way so that we know we are loved and not alone! Have a great Wednesday everyone and please know as always you are in my prayers! Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer: Lord, our God, we are in the shadow of your wings. Protect us and bear us up. You will care for us as if we were little children, even to our old age. When you are our strength, we are strong; but when we are own strength, we are weak. Our good always lives in your presence, and we suffer when we turn our faces away from you. We now return to you, O Lord, that we may never turn away again. Amen (Prayer by St. Augustine of Hippo)
Today’s Blessing Prayer: Tuesday greetings and blessings to all! I hope your day has started off well.
Let us continue to remember all who are in recovery mode these days. Also remember all who lost their lives in the recent storms and natural disasters and all who morn their loss. My prayer of blessing today is that I pray you will have a great Tuesday and encounter many blessings and much peace. I pray that you will be graced and blessed by God in whatever you do and that you will bring God’s grace and blessing to whomever you meet! Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer:
Circle us, O God. Keep protection near and danger afar. Circle us, O God. Keep hope within and keep doubt without. Circle us, O God. Keep light near and darkness afar. Circle us, O God. Keep peace within and keep evil out. Please, circle us, O God. Keep our hearts in your loving hands and let us hear your voice! Amen. (Adapted from a prayer by David Adam) Today’s Blessing Prayer: Monday greetings and blessings to all! May we pause this morning to remember what happened that Tuesday Sixteen years ago and how it changed our lives. Perhaps you will think about where you were and what you felt as the tragic events of that day unfolded. Yet, here we are sixteen years later still searching for peace!
My thoughts and prayers today go out to all affected by the events of that day especially to the children who lost mothers and fathers. Nothing can fill the void of their loss. May what remains unfilled always keep them connected to the gift of the person, the treasure they lost! I cannot help but reflect upon where we find ourselves today with the reality of so many wars, so many violence acts, so much anger, so little tolerance, so much need to blame, so much finger pointing, so much yelling, so much hate, so much condemnation, so much arrogance, so much self-centeredness, so little compassion, so little forgiveness, so little mercy, so little caring, so little chance for peace it seems – we also need to remember all those dealing with the disasters and ongoing disasters of nature. So many people are in need today. In our thinking back we must also not forget to think of the needs of the present. My prayer of blessing for all of you today is - to ask God’s blessing upon you, may it be a solemn blessing rich in peace, strong in courage and graced by love. And may it be a blessing that you will bring it to those you love and to the piece of the world that you will touch today. May God bless you with the insight to see the gift, the treasure that you are and that you will share it with the world! Peace to those who morn today, peace to those who focus on clean up today and peace to those who find themselves in the midst of a storm today! Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer:
God of all peace and conciliation, For those who went into danger, we give thanks. For those who remained behind with the infirm and injured, we give thanks. For those who thought of others first, we give thanks. For those who offered comfort to others, we give thanks. For moments of unknown, grant us courage. In times of fear, grant us courage. When called upon to stand for the rights of others, grant us courage. When others call for our destruction, grant us courage. When the enemies of freedom lash out, bless us with your peace When the darkness of hatred descends, bless us with your peace When we feel the urge to trample and destroy, bless us with your peace When we look to the future of your universe, bless us with your peace Through the living of life, let us be your peace Amen!
