Today’s Prayer: O God, to you we offer our praise. Guide us on the right path as we travel upon your earth. Free us from all the evil tendencies that lead our hearts away from your way. Never allow us to stray from your love. O God, author of peace and justice, give us true joy, authentic love and a lasting solidarity among peoples. Give us your everlasting gifts. Amen (Adapted from a prayer by St. John Paul II)
Today’s Blessing Prayer: Saturday greetings and blessings to everyone and Happy Feast of St. Paul of the Cross! It is just a great day to be a Passionist! My prayers are for all of you today as I celebrate the feast of our founder, in thanksgiving for all of your support over the years. I ask that you continue to pray for us so that we can keep his vision, his dream alive!
We had a long Sunday Mass Taping Day yesterday but a successful one. I thank of of you who offered prayers for us. Please continue to keep the Passionists gathered in Rome for our General Chapter in your prayers. Our General Fr. Joachim Rego, C.P. was re-elected on Wednesday and six new General Consultor were elected on Thursday. The chapter will continue for about another week so please continue to pray for all involved. Also please continue to prayer for the Synod of Youth which is also taking place in Rome! I want to send a special blessing out to Alexis whose birthday is today. Alexis is one of my two goddaughters and I am very proud of the woman she has become though I had nothing to do with it. I just want to send a special birthday blessing to Alexis! She is probably in the midst of being a mother today so may she have a great day, and may God continue to bless her and her family! My prayer of blessing for all you today on this feast of St. Paul of the Cross is that God will bless all of us today through the intersession of St. Paul of the Cross. May God bless us and protect us today and always. May God’s face smile upon us. May God’s grace enter into all that we do. May we live today rich in a harvest of faith, hope and love which God has planted within us and may we always know that nothing can separate us from the love of God! Blessings to all and have a great Saturday everyone. Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer:
Lord Jesus, for how many ages have You remained imprisoned upon Your cross and still we pass You by, ignoring You? How often have we overlooked Your tender presence in our life, paying little attention to Your great sorrow, Your pain, Your powerful Love? How often have we, by our ignorance added to Your sorrow, deepened Your pain and refused Your Love? You constantly stretch forth Your hands to re-create us, to touch us with Your love, and still we close our eyes to Your presence and force you to remain imprisoned upon Your cross! Our names are written in Your heart forever and You will not allow us to run from Your love. Jesus, you have loved us with an everlasting love reflected in the power and compassion of Your cross. Let the love that flows from Your cross surround us, break down the walls of our fear, enliven our faith and fill our hearts with hope. Lord Jesus Christ crucified, teach us how to love as You have loved, even to the cross. May the Passion of Jesus Christ be always in our hearts. Amen! (Adapted from a Passionist Prayer) Today’s Blessing Prayer: Friday greetings and blessings to all! Yes, we are at the end of another work week and at the end of our work day our weekend will begin. As for me it will be a busy Friday as it our October taping day for the Sunday Mass. I will be leaving the house around 6 am and not returning until around 4:30 pm. Please keep the Sunday Mass crew in your prayers today.
We also continue to pray for the Synod on Youth taking place in Rome and the Passionist General Chapter taking place at our Generalate also in Rome. We pray that God’s Holy Spirit of Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding will guide the participants of the synod and General Chapter so that growth will take place within our Church and within the Passionist Congregation. In the Gospel (Luke 12: 1-7)) today, as I said earlier, Jesus tells his disciples, “Do not be afraid.” So as a hopefully a faithful disciple and preacher I ask God to bless all of us with the courage and strength to not be afraid as we go through your day and life. I ask God’s blessing on any of us who find ourselves sick and or struggling in some way may this blessing bring all who need it healing and peace! But most importantly I ask God’s blessing upon us so that we will always know that we are never alone that God is standing with us and will never leave us to face our perils, to face life alone! All of us are worth much more than many sparrows! Have a great Friday everyone! Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer:
Loving God, We sometimes feel like we are crossing a barren desert, but we know you will not let us die of thirst. We sometimes wander far in safety though often we do not know the way. We speak your words, O God, sometimes in foreign lands and we pray people will understand. We hope to see the face of God and live. So, Lord, we will not be afraid because you always go before us, we will come and follow you because we know you will give us rest! Sometimes it feels as if we are passing through raging waters in life, that we are in the sea, but we trust you will not let us drown. We know that if we walk amidst the burning flames of life you will not let us be harmed. And if we stand before the power of hell and death is at our side we know that you are always with us through it all. So, Lord, we will not be afraid because you always go before us, we will come and follow you because we know you will give us rest! Lord, blessed are the poor, for you told us the Kingdom will be theirs. Blessed are all of us who weep and mourn because one day we shall laugh. And if hurtful people insult and hate us because of you may we to be blessed. So, Lord, we will not be afraid because you always go before us, we will come and follow you because we know you will give us rest. Amen! (Adapted from the song “Be Not Afraid” by Bob Dufford, S.J.) Today’s Blessing Prayer: Thursday blessings and greetings to all! It will be a busy day for me as I will spend most of the day at our house in Jamaica setting up for the Sunday Mass Taping Day tomorrow. It is supposed to be a beautiful fall day in this neck of the woods and I hope the same is true for you!
My prayer of blessing for all of you today is that wherever you are, whomever you are with and whatever you are doing today may you, your endeavors, your companions, and your living of life be blessed with the richness, grace and love of God’s presence! Have a great Thursday everyone. Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer: Almighty God, you inspired your servant Luke the Evangelist and Physician to set forth in the gospel the love and the healing power of your Son. In faithfully detailing the humanity of Jesus, he also showed the divinity of Jesus and his genuine compassion for all human beings.
May St. Luke intercede for us that we may deepen our understanding of the gospel and grow in compassion of Jesus. May his intercession enable us to follow your way and bring your healing and loving presents to all we meet this day and always. Amen. Today’s Blessing Prayer: Wednesday greetings and blessings to all. I hope your day is starting off well and that as you wander through it you will be blessed in a life-giving way. I pray your day will be filled with many good experiences and a people. If it is not, then trust in who you are and that even though life and people might seem like a struggle you are making the day a good day for anyone who encounters you!
My friends my God’s blessing be with you today and always. May the richness of who you are as a person created in the image and likeness of God touch the lives of all you meet. May you bring God’s presence to every experience and each moment of this day. May the world you journey through be a better place because of you today. And at the end of the day may you smile with the tired satisfaction that because of you today was a good day! Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul Today’s Prayer: Christ has no body but ours, no hands, no feet on earth but ours, ours are the eyes with which he looks compassion on this world, ours are the feet with which he walks to do good, ours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Ours are the hands, ours are the feet, ours are the eyes, we are his body. Christ has no body now but ours, no hands, no feet on earth but ours, ours are the eyes with which he looks compassion on this world. Christ has no body now on earth but ours. (Adapted from a prayer by St. Teresa of Avila) |
