Today’s Blessing Prayer: Monday greetings to all! I hope you are continuing to navigate through these August days with faith and a hopefulness for the future.
Once again as we journey through this uncertain time, I offer you Pope Francis’ Prayer… O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, and the Health of the Sick. At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of All People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin. (Prayer Composed by Pope Francis) Today is the 40th anniversary of my religious profession of vows with the Passionists. 40 years ago, along with six other men, I made my vows as a Passionist. It was a very hot humid day, but a wonderful day in my life. 40 years later there are three of us left as vowed Passionists and I have no regrets being one of them. Four men from that day ended up taking different paths in life eventually, but I would like to think they are still Passionist in their own way. Three of us, Melvin, Chris and myself continue our journey as Passionists. I ask God’s blessing on all who took vows August 22, 1982, wherever we are in life at this moment! A special shout out to Melvin and Chris – blessings to you both and I hope you will take a moment to celebrate at least a little today! My prayer of blessing today is that God will bless all of us on this Monday. For some it is the beginning of a new school year, for others it is the beginning of a new work week, for others it may be the first or last week of vacation and for still others it might be the last day of this life. May God’s blessing be upon us wherever we find ourselves. May God bless us with the grace we need to live this day and in living this day may we bring God’s presence to all we meet! Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul
