Today’s Blessing Prayer: Saturday greetings and blessings to all! I hope you are continuing to navigate through these unusual and at times difficult days with faith and a hopefulness for the future.
Today is the thirty-eighth anniversary of my religious profession of vows with the Passionists. Thirty-eight years ago, along with six other men, I made my first vows as a Passionist. It was a very hot humid day, but a wonderful day in my life. Thirty-eight years later there are three of us left as vowed Passionists and I have no regrets being one of them. The other four men from that day ended up taking different paths in life eventually, but I would like to think they are still Passionist in their own way. Three of us, Melvin, Chris and myself continue our journey as Passionists. I ask God’s blessing on all who took vows August 22, 1982 wherever we are in life at this moment! A special shout out to Melvin and Chris – blessings to you both and I hope you will take a moment to celebrate at least a little today! Once again as we journey through this uncertain time, I offer you Pope Francis’ Prayer… O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, and the Health of the Sick. At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of All People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin. (Prayer Composed by Pope Francis) My prayer of blessing for all of us today is that our Saturday will be a restful and relaxing far from the busyness that life often heaps upon us. I pray we will have had a good Saturday whether you were working, vacationing, traveling or just trying to make it through these unusual days. I also pray that our day will be blessed with people that will gift our life with laughter, smiles and much joy. And let us not forget to give a little time to God this weekend. I am sure we can all spare a little time and God will appreciate hearing from us! Enjoy your Saturday. Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul
