Today’s Blessing Prayer: Wednesday greetings and blessings to all and happy Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle! To all who might bear the name Paul, like myself or who might find St. Paul and this feast dedicated to his conversion a source of inspiration and strength, like myself, many blessings and much peace.
I hope and pray you are continuing to navigate through these late January days with faith and hopefulness for the future. Once again, I offer you Pope Francis’ Prayer… O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, and the Health of the Sick. At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of All People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin. (Prayer Composed by Pope Francis) I always celebrate the gift of St. Paul whenever I can. Today is one of my favorite feasts throughout the year. I will remember St. Paul as I celebrated mass this morning and I will draw upon the gift of the presence of St. Paul in my life and celebrate that gift as I go through this day. Here in New York, we await a winter storm that is to bring us first snow and then rain. I don’t know how bad or disruptive this storm will be, but the very suggestion of it has people on edge. I have things to do today, and I am hoping to celebrate St. Paul at least a little later today so I will go about my day and deal with whatever the storm brings or doesn’t bring. If you are in the New York metropolitan area or are in the path of the storm I hope it does not disrupt your day too much. My blessing prayer is very simple this Wednesday - May the spirit of St. Paul the Apostle be with all of us throughout this day. May his energy enliven our work, our ministry, our living of life today and always. Many blessings and remember with St. Paul's help we too can get up when we are knocked down and life will be better because we do! Have a great Wednesday everyone and may the spirit of St. Paul be with you. Peace in Christ's Passion...Fr. Paul
