Today’s Blessing Prayer: Thursday blessings and greetings to all. I hope your day has started well? I get the sense this morning that it is going to be another hot and very humid day here in New York. Hopefully the weather by you is a little nicer.
Today is the thirty-seventh anniversary of my religious profession of vows with the Passionists. Thirty-seven years ago, along with six other men, I made my first vows as a Passionist. It was a very hot humid day, but a wonderful day in my life. Thirty-seven years later there are three of us left as vowed Passionists and I have no regrets being one of them. One of the men who made vows that day thirty-seven years ago died recently, three others have taken different paths in life, but I would like to think they are still Passionist in their own way and three of us, Melvin, Chris and myself continue our journey as Passionists. I hope Tom is now with God and I ask God’s blessing on the rest of us wherever we are in life at this moment! A special shout out to Melvin and Chris – blessings to you both and I hope you will take a moment to celebrate at least a little today! My prayer of blessing today is adapted from the Irish tradition - May God bless all of you today so the road rises up to meet you and makes your journeys swift and easy. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. And if the rain has to fall may it be soft upon the fields and upon you. And may you be truly blessed by God holding you in the palm of his hand throughout this day and always! Have a great day everyone! May it truly be blessed with many wonderful experiences, may gifted and loving people and perhaps even a piece of chocolate or an ice cream treat! Oh, go ahead it is still summer you can work on those extra pounds in the fall! Peace in Christ’s Passion…Fr. Paul
